How to see your Snapchat planets
The Friend Solar System is a Snapchat+ feature. To see your planets, subscribe to Snapchat+ inside the app, then enable the Solar System from the Snapchat+ feature management page. Once active, open a friend's profile and look for the Best Friends or Friends badge with a gold ring. Tap the badge to see which planet you are in their solar system. The feature can be toggled off at any time from the same settings page.
What is the Snapchat Solar System?
Snapchat's Friend Solar System maps your eight closest friends to the eight planets of the real solar system. Your number-one best friend — the person you Snap and chat with the most — is represented by Mercury, the planet closest to the Sun. Your second-closest friend is Venus, your third is Earth, and so on through Neptune at position eight.
The system updates dynamically. As your interaction patterns shift — more Snaps, more chats — friends move closer to or farther from the Sun. The ranking is personal and private: only you can see your own solar system, and only Snapchat+ subscribers have access to the feature.

Frequently asked questions
What are Snapchat planets?
Snapchat planets are part of the Friend Solar System, a Snapchat+ feature that assigns a planet to each of your eight closest friends based on how much you interact. Mercury represents your number-one best friend, and Neptune represents your eighth. The feature mirrors the real solar system: closer planets mean closer friendships.
Do you need Snapchat+ to see planets?
Yes. The Friend Solar System is exclusive to Snapchat+ subscribers. Without a subscription you will not see the Best Friends or Friends badge on anyone's Friendship Profile, and you cannot view which planet you are in a friend's solar system.
How does Snapchat decide which planet I am?
Snapchat ranks your eight closest friends by a combination of Snaps sent and received, chats, and overall interaction frequency. The friend you interact with most becomes Mercury (1st), the next most becomes Venus (2nd), and so on through Neptune (8th). Rankings update automatically as your interaction patterns change.
Can your Snapchat planet change?
Yes. Your planet position can change at any time. If you start interacting more with a different friend, that friend may move closer to the sun and push others outward. The rankings are dynamic and reflect your recent activity, not a one-time snapshot.
What is the difference between Best Friends and Friends on Snapchat?
A gold-outlined 'Best Friends' badge means you are both in each other's top eight. A plain 'Friends' badge means you are in their top eight but they are not in yours. Tapping either badge reveals your planet — which position you hold in their solar system.
